Rural Distribution in 2013

To commensurate the birthday of the late Chief  Ven Dr. K. Sri Dhammananda, Compassion In Action (CIA) embarked on another feeding project in providing daily basic essential necessities to needy families outside of Kuala Lumpur.

After 2 months of planning & the wonderful work of the volunteers in getting sponsors for all the items for the grocery bag, the 1st Rural Grocery Bag Project was held in March 2012. Forty Friends of the Vihara (FOV) volunteers in 14 vehicles together with the assistance of Project MADE distributed 50 grocery bags to needy families in Mentakab. It certainly brought joy, smiles and happiness to these 50 families.

Following the enthusiasm shown by the volunteers in the 1st project, FOV again in collaboration with Project MADE organized the 2nd Rural Grocery Bag Project (August 2012) to three Orang Asli villages in Kuala Krau, Temerloh and the 3rd Rural Grocery Bag Project (March 2013) to four Orang Asli villages in Bentong. 100 grocery bags were distributed on each of these occasions. FOV volunteers also collected pre-loved clothing & 53 boxes of clothing were all distributed to the four villages much to their delight.

Going on our own, FOV volunteers did three recce trips to Kuala Kubu Bharu. On 24th August 2013, 55 volunteers in 17 vehicles (including 2 lorries) distributed 120 grocery bags to two Orang Asli villages in Kuala Kubu Bharu. Credit goes to all the FOV volunteers, well-wishers, donors and sponsors for their generous contributions and tireless efforts in making the four Rural Grocery Bag Projects a success in bringing joy and happiness to the families.

Core Group Gathering
10 August 2013 - Core group members were invited to Sister Grace's house for a house blessing by Rev.K. Siridhamma. It was a nice and relaxing get together of core group members, especially when we were treated with delicious lunch at a very relaxing resort like environment.
